the installation combines proposals for a performance, alternative uses of the community center of arad, a video, as well as previous works or references.
the residency works focus on arad’s community center building, presenting it as a paradoxical construction. both a fortress with high walls, and a place for art and sharing. a bunker, and yet a social hub for the city.
the proposals are : "open confessions", a performance inviting the public to give intimate individual statements to the city from the center's rooftop, the building's facade being covered with black banners. a video confronting passerby and the center's massive shape. and finally, architectural suggestions for dramatical structural upgrades fostering faraway connections, actually allowing arad inhabitants to flee.
these projects play with the symbolic potential of the brutalist influences in the building, inviting a new look at its raw power.
the rest of the materials mostly present past works, that together with the new proposals are both a physical path around israel, and a mental / symbolical endeavour playing with what architecture forms can carry as hidden or obvious meaning
